MakeMDL issues

Postby wish_bear » Mon Jun 30, 2003 10:39 am

I found a Pavelow, which was a 3DS file. I imported it to Gmax- and have been trying to export it using MakeMDL and I keep getting the following error:

MakeMDL was not found, or failed to convert the model specified in C:\\ProgramFiles\ Microsoft Games\FS2002\aircraft\MH53\pave' to a .MDL file. Check your system path to ensure that MakeMDL is on it.

I have the MakeMDL.exe in the plugins folder of Gmax. I have tried saving the helicopter as a .gmax and have tried bringing the original 3DS file into truespace and saving it as a.X file- still I get the same error message.

I can not find any assistance online that shows me what I am doing wrong while trying to export an aircraft to a .mdl file

Help???!!!

Most 3ds files posted on various sites were not intended for FS. Try exporting one of the sample models in the FS2002\gmax\Samples folder. You will soon know if Gmax & MakeMDL are configured properly. If you still have problems or error messages check out the tips on Chris File's site. http://thegreatptmd.tripod.com/exporter/expoerror.htm
I also find his MiddleMan utility very useful for exporting to CFS2 or FS2002.
