Shaping Fuselage question

OK heres my problem when Im shaping my fuselage (GMAX) I use editable mesh and vertex. When im doing that it always selects unnecassary vertexs that I dont need to use, How can I get rid of this without unselecting the vertexs I need. 
Also am I using the right method to shape my fuselages, wings and, etc.
