well if you have CFS3 you can download Gmax and the CFS3 Gmax gamepack and i think it might work

but the CFS3 gamepack does NOT an FS2002 MDL make.

I'm more interested in the Zmodeller program - am about to DL it myself.  Does it save to 3DS directly or does it need a separate exporter?

i don't have cfs anything, only normal fs2002 but did you say that i could download the cfs3 gamepack, because fs2002 can read cfs3 files

EDIT: it comes with 40 plug-ins, and you can't save it as .3ds files, but it does come with the export for .3ds. it also makes cubes, cylinders, spheres, toruses, cones, and tubes. it is ALOT easier to use than gmax, though i can't say anything about FSDS, as i don't have it. but it's a good program. i play need for speed, and most of the cars at http://www.nfscars.net are made using zmodder, and all the ones in the hall of fame were made with it. if you master it, you can make very good models with it.

Another Edit: Zmodder site: http://www.zmodeler.nfscheats.com

Nope, FS2002 cant read CFS3 files and CFS3 cant read FS2002 files. CFS3 and FS02 are completely different.

Whether they come out animated or not is a different subject altogether, but ... export your model as a directX file mesh and you can use makemdl.exe directly

I just made a quick sphere in Zmodeller, exported as DirectX mesh, and made a MDL file in makemdl.  And set it up as a dummy airplane.  OF course, I didn't texture or anything.

You can get makemdl.exe from the scenery SDK at

i tried, it said:

Running model

Start! (C:\fssdk\MakeMDL_SDK\a-o1c.x)
Loading X C:\fssdk\MakeMDL_SDK\a-o1c.x...
ERROR:  Invalid X file: C:\fssdk\MakeMDL_SDK\a-o1c.x.
Error!
Error!

but the making a sphere worked. mabee i could send you the .z3d file and have you look over it?
