texturing propeller disk

Postby juri » Tue Apr 01, 2003 9:50 am

any good tutorials on propeller texturing out there? i've been trying to figure out how it's done on default fs2k2 aircraft but i'm going nowhere...

the problem is getting the "slow" and "blurred" textures to work properly.

i use gmax, the sample aircraft were not of any help either.

thanks!

What's your specific problem?

The basics are setting the material with a suitable opacity (I use about 64-128), and the texture should cover it.  For prop disks, I let the material control the opacity.

At Freeflight Design Shop, Doc Blake recently posted a Tutorial on making a prop disk.  While it's for FSDS2, the principle should apply as well.

sorry, stupidity or something worse is preventing me from getting it right.

the texture is visible in gmax, but not in fs2k2. i copied the .bmp file in the aircraft texture folder, but there's still nothing. the propeller disk is visible and transparent like the material settings dictate, but there is no texture...

what format should the .bmp be in?

Make sure that in your cpoy/pasting/reviewing process you didn't convert it to a 24-bit bitmap - for starters.

what format should the .bmp be in?
