Apache AH-64 Project

Postby kirklong » Sun Mar 30, 2003 11:02 pm

This has been a crazy high resolution project that needs a group of good developers on each part. In order for it to be free for everyone I wanted to ask if any developer/s are interested in the finishing of this project.

Apache for versions of Microsoft's Flight Simulators FS2000, CFS2, FS2002 and soon FS2004. Release Formats. GMAX, FSDS pro, 3D Studio Max 4, 3DS, and DXF.

See the Apache pages at http://unitedflight.totalpilot.com/aircraft/apache/apachel.html

Such a design is too good to be used in FS2002 for two reasons:

1. From the looks on the image, it's a total framerate killer.

2. There are flight sim pilots in this aviation community that have the tendency to crash such a beautiful helicopter.

So, that design will be a total hit on my computer (I think). Check out my specs:

Pentium 4 with 2.4GHZ
512mb ram
GeForce 4 MX440 (Gateway) with 128mb
60gb hard drive
20x cd-rom drive
Sound Blaster Audigy

BMan1113VR::::

Yes it is a frame rate killer on a Pent 450. We just have tested the Alpha flight model. There are 147 objects that will be cut down.

The Apache will be made in multi versions with different resolutions. Its just the way you model the part. Working from 3D Studio Max we can change the resolution. Then import it to GMAX etc.

We are working on ways to cut the fat off of the Apache outer shell and crame all the good stuff in the panel, the sounds, and the VC.

1 more thing BMan1113VR Never say I can't!!  8)

Katahu::

Should'nt have no problems there! :o

Oz::
Have you tried modeling in GMAX?

Yes, i have tried modeling with Gmax, but i just cant seem to understand that program. Ive installled it bout 5 times already and each time i end up uninstalling it cause i cant get the hang of it. I actually do get some aspects of gmax designing, but sometimes i get stuck on some parts and just cant seem to find help in those tutorials (ive tried almost all) I think that until discreet makes a user-friendly gmax (something which will only happen in my dreams..) i dont think ill be able to design anything good.

Hey Oz, don't say that you may never design anything good. You helped Project Have Blue by designing a very interesting panel for the model. Now that's a bright side to look into.

yeah, i guess the panel designing is a good bright side. I was reffering mostly to Gmax though; just cant get the hang of it. Hey by the way katahu, did you download the gmax tutorials that they have at their site, or did you read the 'Stupid Idiots' tute. If not, can you tell me wheres a pretty good (simple, comprehensive) tutorial; Youve been doin really good on that Have blue. I guess ill give it yet another go at Gmax...

The best thing to do is keep it installed if you really want to learn.  ;)

It's a matter of how bad do you want it..  I my self am in love with anything 3D. I dream 3D. If I see a 2D image its not 2D to me. In most cases their always is the other side of that image in my mind. I like making that otherside and seeing the whole picture in 3D.

If you need help ask about the problem. If you don't find it in here just ask. I am sure Felix and others can answer your questions. Don't just rely on Tutorials. Rely on specific questions.

No screen shots at this time for the Apache.
