So you are in need of a pilot figure? Does it matter which format it's in? I use Max and Gmax, and have a pilot figure that I used in my Angel 44 that might work for your ultralight in *.gmax format.

The aircraft definitely needs a pilot. I could see leaving it out on a big airliner or something like that, but for this aircraft it's a necessity I think. As for the compatability between gmax and blender I do not know. Hopefully Kris, can give some insight here. He is doing the 3d model, and would need to import it to blender. He recently tried another one we had permission to use, and even though that one was made in the same program (blender) as the aircraft, we still could not get it to work right. We almost need one freshly modeled in to the aircraft I think...importing a premade one is tricky, because of limb positioning and scaling.

I agree: modeling a person is a degree of experience I haven't yet gotten down. The first time I tried it I failed miserably, and so my search for a suitable replacement occurred. And I ran into the exact same troubles you have. I couldn't quite position everything EXACTLY as I wanted it in regards to my airframe (one word or two?) and seating arrangements. So I spent a couple of days taking the best one I could find apart and making each piece a separate entity. Then, once I had arranged the body as I wanted I recombined the pieces and snapped the vertices back together. Took awhile, but well worth the effort afterwards.

Yup. That's exactly the problems he was running into. Because the pilot was not to scale with the aircraft he was trying to deconstruct each body segment and rescale it but then couldn't get everything to reconstruct properly. He couldn't get it to animate at all. I think what we really need is for someone who is good with blender to import the aircraft to their computer, and model a pilot into it from scratch. So any modeler out there willing to donate your time and skills for a great freeware airplane please speak up! Lol!

Thanks OldAirMail!

Yes, I am very happy with the way that the aircraft came out.

Hi Everyone!

So, I have had a lot of requests for a pilot for the AltraMax.

I do not want to let down all of the people that have downloaded the AltraMax. So I have been watching a lot of YouTube videos on how to model and rig for animations.

So without any further a due, here is what I have done so far.

I would like to thank everyone that has downloaded the AltraMax. I was very sup-prized in the number of downloads.

Thank you, Kris ^-^

Hi Guys,
I must congratulate you both on what you've done so far regarding this great project.
I've followed your progress with great interest right from the very start.
What you've both done for the sim community is brilliant.
I've had quite a few nice scenic flights in your lovely little model already, but I've always hoped that somebody would be able to model a pilot for it, just to compliment it and finish everything off.
Now it looks like it's going to happen. :D
Happy Days.
Many thanks to you both, your hard work is very much appreciated.

Kris did 95% of the work.. All I did was give him suggestions along the way, tweaked the flight characteristics a bit, and added some basic textures. The modeling is entirely his!
