The advice we have used for years with gauges is to try to contact author & if nio response make credits & wait for him to contact if there is a problem

Precisely. Rather than threats of legal action the easiest way out of this would be to give Alrot an e-mail address where he can contact George Carty to officially request permission to use his gauge. If permission is denied then he would have every right to ask for its removal. However, I really don't see the point of such a high-handed action.

Alex is 100% respecter of copyright. He tried several times to contact George but got no respnse or the email g.j.carty@durham.ac.uk I provided was bounced.

I have to wonder how much effort was made to contact the author of the gauge. I thought that both HJG & Alrot were sponsored by Simviation so I don't understand the difficulty in contacting any of them. This sounds more like a case of brothers falling out.

PLEASE NOTE: This gauge set is designed for FS2004 use although it can also be used with FSX. It will not function with FS2002 or earlier versions of FS.

Sounds in the newest version of the B707 panels are external files, rather than being part of the GAU files

(1) Unzip all files to a temporary folder
(2) Copy/paste the files in the gauges folder to the gauges folder in your flight sim directory.
(3) Copy/paste the files in the sounds folder to the sounds folder in your flight sim directory.

This gauge set is for exclusive use with the HJG B707 series panels by George CARTY and in conjunction with HJG B707 aircraft models.

THIS IS BREACH OF COPYRIGHT ONCE AGAIN.

The offending gauge is 707-320.gau created by George Carty for HJG. Alrot nor anyone has asked to permission to use this gauge.

I can't believe this has happened once again, and people think its ok to steal other peoples work

This its a freeware, "Ben" I'm not earning anything because of this ,  ,I name the George as this specific gauge in the read me file..

This is not something bad as a texture or  A Sound FROM OTHER AIRPLANE ,THIS IS A GAUGE TO PUT IN A PANEL FOR THE USE OF ANY BOEING 707 ,WHAT IF I USE JUST THE PANEL AND PLACE IN THE PLANE after all you have it in YOUR SITE HJG AS FREEWARE TO BE USE IN ANY BOEING 707..

Bad would be if I would took it from an already made aircraft add-on ..But it came in a 2d panel freeware POSTED BY HJG..

I didn't knew it was from your site ,Someone here gave the link (you can look in this same thread) If I would knew that this was made by you earlier I wouldn't place and use it to avoid issues.

if you insist I would remove the the plane from Pete's server and post it back next week ..there are many gauge similar like the concorde gauges .

BTW there are others gauges inside this VC Not just YOUR gauge BEN..

Ben there are worth Stealing things in Internet , any of your panels or plane can be take and redistribute for sale ..it happends everyday ,why is this war against me ? YES ITS A GREAT GAUGE ,BEAUTIFUL WELL MADE A GOOD FREEWARE THAT MANY WILL JOY IN THE AIRCRAFT TOO. DON'T BE SO SELFISH AND STOP THIS WAR AGAINST ME.

Let's calm this down, there's a lot of hot air blowing around for nothing. If Alex wants to use the gauge in his VC (a compliment to George Carty after all), then why not just leave the location reference in the panel.cfg file, and put a note in the README that the gauge itself can be downloaded from the HJG downloads section? Anybody keen on using Alex' 707 (and who wouldn't?) shouldn't have an issue doing this - it's not as if it's hard work or anything.

That way, there can be no accusations of theft since the gauge will be obtained by the user from the 'right' source (which is here at SimV in any case).

I'm hoping that HJG is not trying to emulate other well-known model designer outfits who are very ... forthright with their views, shall we say, on their own websites.

I've had enough of my own material used and abused with no returns, never credited. When it comes to FS it's only really bothered me when I got someone else's permission to include their material and credit was specifically asked for but not given.
I also know the difficulty of trying to contact authors of gauges and, particularly, model files: no answers, defunct addresses, etc.. I've spent not only hours but months trying to track people down.
Stealing? When material is used and no credit to the originator is given, to say nothing of when credit is claimed by the user, then I'd say it's stealing. Otherwise, since this is freeware, they can claim they've given me 100% of the royalties -- nothing, free if not clear.
