Gmax to dxf ?

Postby hsvfan » Sun Sep 13, 2009 2:47 am

Hi all
Just wondering if there is a plugin that will allow me to export or save a file as a dxf. I am working on a home simulator and would like to creat some panels and have them cut out on a lazer machine

Regards

The only way I know how is to get the Tempest/Quake exporter, export to MD3 format and then get a converter Quake MD3 to dxf.

If you can get the file to save as .3ds in your modelling program, you can import .3ds files in AutoCAD. in AutoCAD go to INSERT - 3D Studio. There you can choose how to import by layer, or material, or all in one layer.
Hope this helps. I know gmax cannot export to 3ds, but 3dsMax can I think

RFemember - gmax can only export to those specific formats for which gamepacks have been created.

Possibly a better way, without searching for payware converters -

Export using the FS2004 makemdl.exe and middleman/mdlcommander to capture the x file.  Import the x file into Blender, export as dxf.
