im at my wits end trying to texture it lol ill happily hand the gmax file over anyone to have a mess about with it see what they can do iv reached my talent wall with this ill stick to modelling i think and leave the textures to people who know how to do them without smashing there keyboards and pulling there hair out in frustration so if anyone would like the gmax file to have a play with the model let me know i would really like to see this model released as freeware the previous models i have release are not much to be desired because the textures were pants.

Someone else can do the texture ...if they wanted to...but you will have to do the mapping and supply them with the maps so they can build up the texture.
You are confusing texture painting with texture mapping.
Often when a model gets it's basic mapping it is covered with perhaps the plan of the model.
You said in response to the guides that you don't follow that but do you own thing. perhaps that's your problem. The guides set out the nor methods of work. No problem if you want to do your own thing except that when things don't work out no one cane easily help you.

like i say model there if anyone wanna mess about with it. when i map the textures and apply textures and test in fsx the become semi transparent but if i apply a texture to whole model for eg a 512 x 512 camo texture its fine but looks amature anyone willing to finish this model ill share credit with no problem. i think the general model is a great peice of work and would love to share it with the FSX community. im still learning and a little hands on help wouldnt go a miss i learn by seeing and doing rather than reading. ill look into what people have said and see what i can do iv been at this model for 5 months now and my patience is running thin and id hate to give up and let 5 months work go to waste

Sometimes a simplistic approach works best. Take a look at this tutorial, step 22 for mapping. Once you read through that, take a look at the video I did of the mapping process. Maybe that will make sense and ease you into it.
http://www.flightsimonline.com/C162/Do not worry about final textures just yet. Just do the mapping. Someone can do the textures once you provide the templates.
I hope ths helps.
