adding lights...

Postby Capt.Propwash » Tue Apr 14, 2009 10:31 pm

ok, so i have the F-14D Rev 2-4(/Final) and F14D Pheonix, but a few things that are missing from this craft is the Nose wheel light, and the "slime lights" for nighttime formation flying.

Pic of landing light:: www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/AWA1/101 ... c-003s.jpg

I have looked all through FS9's aircraft folders looking for "Landing and taxi lights" but i dont see any that are just labeled "R_LANDING= XXX, or L_LANDING=XXXX.... or even TAXI=XXXXXX" all that I see is NAV_RED, NAV_GREEN, NAV_STROBE...... and maybe a NAV_WHITE.... would it be NAV_WHITE????? and tie it to TAXI / LANDING?

Any help would be appreciated, I can figure out the placement coordinates for the light just by playing around with it, but I just cant seem to find the correct lables to be able to place them.

The slime lighting could be added IF the aircraft has dedicated night textures (named similar to the normal texture but with _lm appended). If this is so then the night texture can be opened and resaved as a regular bitmap image, then  simply draw in the formation lights and paint them an appropriate light green, saving and converting the texture back into it's original format (dxt3 or dds or whatever it may be). If there is no dedicated night version of the texture provided then the model hasn't been mapped to include them, so making such changes won't work. The landing light needs to be coded into the model upon compiling - you could add a representation using fx_landing_fx as an additional entry in the [lights] section per the other lights, however it will only appear as a small ball of glowing white and won't actually illuminate the ground.

for model made under SDK-FS9 poligons has to be made in the original model program as Gmax 3dMax FSDS Taxi and Landing Light In the exterior Model and VC So what I mean is if the model did not comes with these parts compiled with the rest in makemdl9 ,its impossible to Put landing or Taxi Lights,

Nav and Strobes and even the VC cabin light can be assign position and FX in Aircraft.cfg

And I suggest you to remove that Photo , Linked photos are not allowed in simv ,you can Upload it to simv servers here  ,or just leave the Link to the photo ,before a mod remove it for you :)

For general information, FS has no distinction about Left or Right landing or taxi lights.

thanks for the help guys.  as it was made by our great late friend STEVE HINSON, there is no way for me to contact him to ask him to please help me out on the light.........

as for the pic now that i know that there is nothing I can do to add it and it illuminate the ground, I'll gladly remove it.  Thanks anyways.
