Aircraft not showing in list

Postby Hiropemonkey » Mon Dec 01, 2008 6:07 pm

Don't worry this is not the typical I don't know where to find the aircraft or where to put it.

I've been working on a VF-0D for FSX.  I have the model complete enough with animations and such to start work on the FDE in FSX.

I had a working FDE and the aircraft was showing up in the game list.  Now it is not.  All I did was edit the air files, and parts of the cfg.

I went back to the cfg and air file that I had started with, and put it in the aircrafts folder, but it still did not show up in the list.

I tried starting off with a completely new air and cfg file, that did not work.

Any ideas?

Hi Jeremy, welcome to the Big V!

Have you changed the model name, or amended the model reference in the aircraft.cfg file? If you changed the model name, you'd need to change the name in the model.cfg too.

Sometimes fsx will not display the aircraft if you don't have a valid panel for it. If you don't have a panel made up just take the c172 panel.cfg or 737 or whatever and configure it in. Also, if you have a texture folder make sure the take a jpg image of your choice, rename it "thumbnail" (minus the quotes" and stick it in the texture folder. :)

I might be able to help...
One time I took a default fs9 aircraft and put it in FSX. It worked fine, but it had no thumbnail. However, instead of getting a generic grey question mark, it wasn't there at all. So I categorized that aircraft manufacturer, and there wasn't anything there, no name or thumbnail. I clicked in the upper left hand corner (where the question mark would have been) and it showed up! Try clicking in the empty space where it should be.
This may have something to do with me having not installed sp1 or 2. ;D
