Right planes showing up for multiplayer

Postby Jet Black1 » Sun Apr 06, 2008 4:11 pm

Is their a easy way to make a small size download like a visual shell of an aircraft that others can download even for payware, So when flying multiplayer the aircraft show up as what they are insted of what MSFS puts in its place?
Thanks

To have an MSFS aircraft show up as it is supposed to be, you would have to download that EXACT model.

FS is very specific about what aircraft are spawned for which entries in the aircraft CFG.  Sometimes, a single letter (182RG_cessna instead of 182RG_cesna) will make all the difference.  FS finds the most compatible type and superimposes it to fit the situation.

Short answer: no, it isn't possible.

You have to have the exact plane, the simulator only knows the aircrafts name but it subsitutes for the closest model on your sim

Greg,

There is no 'easy' way to create a 'visual shell', aka 'model' so that you see the exact same aircraft. But you can make a similar aircraft show up in place of the payware.

Your sim does not need the exact plane/model installed. It can even use ai aircraft.

For the other player aircraft in multiplayer your sim looks through your installed aircraft to find a match to the 'title=XXXX' line in the [fltsim.X] sections of the aircraft.cfg files.

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.
