HUD on Faceplate

Postby Travis » Fri Sep 01, 2006 4:57 pm

I was just perusing through some old projects and came upon one that included a pilot helmet with a full faceplate, and it lead me to wonder if there is a way to make a HUD mounted so that any time a person moves the viewpoint (in the VC) the gauges will move with the view.  Simply put: a way to simulate a helmet-mounted HUD.

Can anyone think of anything remotely like this?

The only thing that comes to mind as a idea, is possibally build a pilot, then mount a helmet which then place your plane (poly) near the face (note a hud plane to mount guages etc.). Attach, to the head, give the Head a XML animation to be animated along with the control surfaces that are inputed.  That should work (only in VC view), although I don't know of the code that comes to mind. ;D hope this helps. ;)

SkyNoz, what you say makes sense, but it wouldn't work for what I'm looking for:

I want the HMD to move with the VIEW, not just the CONTROL SURFACES.  If it were to move with the control surfaces, I would just create it the same way I create a moving head or control stick.

But it doesn't matter, anyway, since I do believe the guys over at FFDS have solved the problem.

But thanks for the help! ;)
