No clickable VC

Postby Travis » Tue Jun 13, 2006 10:57 pm

For nearly a day, now, I 've been adding stuff to my VC, but MakeMDL or FS is screwing up.  Everything in the cockpit actually moves like it should, but I can't move it with the mouse.  When I move the mouse over the switch or lever, nothing registers.  It was working fine yesterday.

Everything moves correctly, but I am unable to move it via the mouse.

If I export another aircraft as this one, things move fine and the mouse registers the parts.  I can move everything with a different model in there, but nothing will move with what I've got.

I've tried going back to a previous version of the same model, which worked fine when exported before, but it still does the same thing.

I've tried deleting the last mod of the model, but no such luck.

I'm really confused, here.  Does ANYONE have any ideas on this? ???

Are you using the group-export method or the node-hierarchy-export method?

When using node hierarchy, I would normally create only an interior model so that I can clone it for the Exterior. Then I select "all" objects in the scene [including the node]. At this point, I save the scene and then back it up.

Next, I apply the X-Form modifier and then clone the selected objects to make two models for the exterior and interior.

From this point, I "don't save" before nor after exporting in case somthing comes up. That way, I can always go back to the last non-x-form-modified scene and start over if need be. So far this has worked for me but that's only in Gmax. I don't know how it's supposed to work for FSDS.

Have you added anything new to the xml parts list,if so check them.If it finds a bad part edit it usally wont read past it,did you have gauges or just part clicking, also check for a Poly between the view and the part.Hopefully it will be something simple that you overlooked.

Hi
Another gotcha is your view point being behind a forward facing polly, move the eyepoint forward in fs9 by ctl ent ctl backspace or is it shft ent shft backspace and see if you can click them,if so find the offending polly (normally a head rest) or move the eyepoint forward a bit in the aircraft.cfg

1. Katahu: I have no clue what you're talking about.  My method of VC creating obviously differs from yours tremendously.  I create the VC by integrating parts from the exterior model with a very detailed version of the interior model (FS9's dummy objects) and then merging the two files.

2. Aceronzo: I checked that, as I thought it might be the problem.  I replaced the makemdl.parts.xml file with a brand new, unedited version from the SDK and it didn't make any difference.

3. AuMaV: I'll check on that.  Didn't think that would be a problem, but I'll make a detailed inspection of that issue.
