No,not the song  ;D ,Ill realy apresiate a little hand here I never could do esperical shapes In Gmax (3ds)Please don't post a Little *.gift showing a little hand ;D Seriously I forgot after 4 or five years I can't even remerber if I knew how to do it... ;)

I would select the correct vertices of the cylinder and do a "Select and non uniform scale" of the Z or X using the cross section as a guide.

But it might be better to wait for a reply from somebody with a little more experience of this.

Oh Boy! this is though,each point has to be set one by one,[size=24][color=Red]There's gotta be another easier way

Try uniform and non-uniform scaling with one or two axes limited.. And soft-select comes in real handy here. Experiment with that, adjusting the fall-off.

If you move one point at a time.. you're gonna end up with a bumby/lumpy surface.

Check this link, this explains the Loft method which is extremely usefull for useing cross-selections of fuselage formers etc. This method is very accurate in designing nose sections, fuselages and alot of surfaces that may consist of a constant curve. ;)
