Um, did you know its included with FS?  I didnt!  Not that I have the patience to learn how to use it, but GMAX is included with FS. Its on Disc 1, in the folder Extras

Yep, I didn't know it was there either until I read about it here!  I just completed the 4th tutorial (the power charger thingy) about 10 minutes ago  ;D

There are lots of planes I want to fly that don't exist in FS2004 (Bristol Boxkite, Avro 504K, Lohner flying boat) so I guess I'll have to learn to make them myself!

but you still have to go to gmax site to get activation code (for free) and you can download it from there. So it's really pointless to have it on disk 1 as you still need to get an activation code.

But if you have a slow (dial up ) connection, or if you have to reinstall it, etc etc etc ....  it's quicker to have it "on disk"....

Any one attempting to learn GMAX for the first time will need plenty of hair and a lot of time. If you have never used a 3d drawing program GMAX just might make you crazzy, and bald.
There is a GMAX bible you can find at most good book stores that comes with a CD and good tutorials.
Take my advice do the tutorials untill you are comfortable with it before attempting starting a project from scratch.
Other than that GMAX is  a great program just not what I would call first time user friendly. 8)

Thanks

READ the THREAD that I linked to which gives you several alternatives, up to and inlcuding a no-hassle "authorized" patch that doesn't require you to send e-mails, etc etc.

go here mate http://www.turbosquid.com/RegisterGmax/Index.cfm

and click on gmax 1.2 then it will ask you for username and e-mail and password. You out it there and then they send you a activation code through e-mail.

Hey felix thanks for that patch. i think it will be useful.
