I just got gmax recently (off FS2004) and the tutorials don't work.  When i click on them it doesn't do anything.  Am i doing something wrong or is something wrong with my gmax?  any help would be great

Did you make sure that you excracted the contents of the zipped tutorials [if you downloaded them] to a temorary location before opening a tutorial? Most tutorials use html format and require access to certain files within the zipped download that you have [ex: images stored within the zipped download]. That's you have to exctract the files prior to using the tuts so that they can display correctly.

If the tuts are just in plain text [ex: a notepad file], then there should be no problem.

The gmax tutorials, help files and programs are each separate installs.

Executing the programs - gmax install, tutorials install, and help files install (not that these are the names, mind you) will install the respective components into their proper locations:  c:\gmax.... etc

Another thing.  If you intend to create content for Flight Simulator 9, you also need to download the gmax SDK and makemdl SDK from the Microsoft FS2004 downloads site.

If you don't understand parts of the tutorials or you are having trouble understanding them, go to this site for more technical information. This forum focuses mainly on addon development.

Freeflight Design Shop Forum

There are more experienced individuals in that forum.

PapaK (I told you I'd change your name):

Thanks for the kudos but don't underestimate the quality of the support in the Simviation Design Forums.  To this day I've learned about as much from here as from the FFDS forums.

I find that many times the explanation here is easier to understand than at FFDS.

You're welcome Tim.

Uhh.. Felix, are you sure that SimV has more info than FFDS? I remember getting more useful info in regards to XML from FFDS. ::)

Oh wait, never mind. I just remembered that you have /FFDS as part of your name. ;D

As for my name, it's never gonna change until there is a Katahu Jr. And as far as I'm concerned, it won't happened until I get a woman. ;D

I am proud that the FFDS forum has attracted the cream of the designer crop as far as flightsimulator modelling is concerned.
