A/C missing in "Any" list

Postby Skittles » Sat Apr 16, 2005 4:31 pm

What needs to be changed/added so aircraft show up in the list when displaying "any" aircraft?

a simple answer: nothing

the "any" list simply removes the manufacturer filter, so you can see all planes in the same list, instead of separated by maker (as it were before fs2002) ::)

when a plane doesn't have a manufaturer specified it'll appear under "unspecified"

if a plane does not show up in the "any" list that means it doesn't appear in any list at all :P

if that's the case, make sure you have it properly installed (many times planes will folder themselves up inside their target folder when installed, then FS is unable to find them)  ;)

hope this helps

Skittles,

If Moach's suggestions don't work for you, then you will need to check a couple of things in the aircraft.cfg. (If you don't know how to do this, then you can open it up in Notepad, but make sure you take a backup first.)

- the "title=" line in the [fltsim.x] sections all must be different, or else the repaint with the same name will not show up

- the "sim=" line in the [fltsim.x] sections must be exactly the same as the .air file name, minus the .air extension - or else the plane won't show up

- check that the name that you expect to see is in the "ui_manufacturer" line. For example, sometimes tha plane designer will put their name instead of the original real plane maker - so in the FS listing, you might get something like 'Project Opensky' instead of 'Boeing', so you need to check your listing carefully.

I am quite familar with the aircraft's config file.  My friend installed an F-14 and F-18. Both did not appear in the "ANY" list. They did appear in the respective manufacture's list.  But apparently, as I just found out, he had installed the aircraft while the sim was running, so, after a restart of FS, all is well.

Thank you for the responses, next time I'll be more suspicious of his installs.
