Poly Count

Postby Smoke2much » Thu Feb 17, 2005 7:05 pm

I am currently building a Twin Engine vintage aircraft for FS9 and (hopefully) CFS3 in G-Max.  I have noticed that many models are advertised as "low poly count".  How many polygons is this.  For example one wing of the model is currently 309 polygons.  Is this excessive?

I don't think anyone has nailed down the poly count for FS to be honest.

Thanks for your reply.  I have done some conservative collapsing work and reduced the count to 225.  This does not include the elevators or engines.

30,000 gives me a fair few to work with... ;D

I try to aim for no more than 50000 before doubling up for the VC version.  Lately I have been getting away with extremely high poly counts of over 90000 or so!

Framerate-friendly too.  :-)

I DO need to reboot before attempting to compile though.
