F-14 Minus Drop Tanks

Postby RWetterholt » Wed Oct 27, 2004 11:53 pm

Hello all...

I am an avid flightsim fan and love flying.  I especially love the F-14 Tomcat's Mr. Dino Cattaneo has put out for all of us to enjoy.  The file I have is F14BFS9A.zip  They are three F-14's with VF32/102/103 textures associated with the package.  I was wondering, however, if anyone could help me with a request I have.  These Tomcats come with a full load of drop tanks and missiles and missile racks.  I was wondering if anyone could help me find out a way to remove these drop tanks and missiles from the model to give it a more sleek and clean look for flight in FS2002.  I don't mean to re-write all the weights and configs becuase that is fine.  I just want to make the bulky drop tanks and missiles disappear to give the jet a more clean look.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Son of"Bait"-->VF-102 active duty.  VF-101 RAG instructor.  Anytime, baby.

Unfortunately, the drop tanks and missiles are all part of the aircraft's model in FS (unlike CFS).  Which means you cannot detach them without editing the model.  That is very difficult and not even worth doing if you don't already understand the modelling process.

You could contact the author and put in a request for a clean model.  Many authors love to hear back from users, and the modifications would be simple.  No additions, just removing a few items.

If that does end up happening, you might as well change the weights and balance, as well as the fuel to accurately represent this, as that is relatively simple.
