new design group

Postby Hellhound » Fri Jan 16, 2004 7:46 am

i wanted to start a design group for the people (like me) who don't have 2k2 pro. and we don't know when ms is going to release the sdks. so i need people willing to convert aircraft for us (hopefully it will become an 'us'), texture aircraft for those who haven't figured it out yet, and people to design aircraft and stuff. just pm me or e-mail me at corp_andon_a@yahoo.com if you want to join

the neat thing about your starting this "group" is that it doesn't really sound like a "We're conquering the modelling world" type of design group, but rather a "let's get together and do neat things" group.

Most importantly, the person putting out the "invitation" does not come across as a "I'm the brains and you do what I say", but instead, it's someone who's been plunging into modelling, is aware of the pitfalls of flightsim modelling, and most importantly, is aware of what his current capabilities and limitations are...

Good luck!

I have to agree with Felix. Your approach makes a refreshing change. I much prefer working with a group rather than alone & have learned a lot by doing so. Unfortunately, it might not be too easy to find the right people with the appropriate knowledge & persuade them to join you. I think it might be an idea to state your particular area of interest & post a few shots of projects you're working on. This is not guaranteed to be successful but at least people will have idea on what's involved. ;)

I wish you success & good luck. ;D

im not much use to the group as far as modelling is concerned but i may be of use for a web designer...i notice your using freewebs account...i can build you a fully functioning website and update it for you to give that appearance of a proffessional group what do ya say? i am even able to make flash banners buttons and whatever your group needs if you wish to use my site

i dont have many examples of my work at the moment but an old VA that fell to bits i started is still uploaded http://www.flygo.tk/

its basicaly how i work is you say what goes where and what colours etc and i make it happen... simple :D

i know its not much but its a start lemme know if your interested leave me a PM or email me daz_walsh@hotmail.com

It's a great idea to have a website.

I like those wierd designs that you have there in the 40K Vehicles section. Especially that thing that has two legs. ;D

However, how can anyone make those two legs work in FS? Let me see if I can try it.

Hellbound,

I would be happy to help with modeling and texturing.  I am new here but have been making games models professionally for 10 years...even worked on some flight sims for microprose.  It would be great to work on a collaborative effort.

Also, I am volunteering my time teaching a class in Gmax here in MN and it would be great to see what info people need so I can help my students

Hellbound,

why dont you pick something as a departure point, and we can talk about what to do! I have a fondness for combat aircraft, but it would be interesting to work on a commercial aircraft for me also.  Of course, having some ref drawings would be good too lol.

Let me know...and it might be interesting too if we made a tutorial out of it...just a thought.

Ready when you are! Evan
