Hello,
I have a question which I am sure most of the people in here have faced in the past.
I have downloaded some repainted airplanes (very good models indeed) but they have not a virtual cockpit and I see the open air instrad when looking around from cockpit view. Is there a way to add this? As I have noticed the virtual cockpit is connected to the normal cockpit view I think it may not be necessary to design the whole thing from scratch. Any ideas?

Qualified no.
While you could have the gauges floating in mid-air in a virtual view, the "solid" part needs to be built into the model.

Would it be possible to put in a 'virtual cockpit' bitmap for the gauges to sit on top of? I haven't tried it, but could this be some sort of alternative?

I would venture to say yes - then you would have the FS2000 "cockpit view" where what you saw from the inside was based on the bitmaps made.
