uploading a new aircraft

Postby skyhawk_1 » Mon Jul 07, 2003 4:02 am

Hi,
Can someone explain the uploding procedure, what is happening is I go to BROWSE as instructed and browse the directory to were the file is eg:- Cessna172 but nothing happens when I click UPLOAD. The only time it will upload is when I click on each individual item inside MODEL........PANEL........ETC.

                     THANKS

Skyhawk. You must configure it properly & zip it up before trying to upload it. Include a Readme with a brief description, install instructions & your details. Use any download as an example. Depending on the size of the zipfile this might take a while so be patient. You will get a message when upload is complete. There would be no point in trying to upload separate unzipped files.

PS. Use a unique name for your zipfile to avoid conflicts with existing stuff.

Hi Skyhawk. Yes you need to zip the file. This is easy enough using the WinZip right-click "Add to xxxxx.zip" option. The files/folders should be configured properly in a parent folder before zipping it all up. It's helpful if you include a simple text file with a description of your file + a small screenshot of how it looks in the sim. I suggest using a filename that nobody else would use. This is more difficult these days as there's so many similar files around. How about something like sh1_cess172.zip?

As I mentioned previously, download a similar file by an experienced author & use that for an example of how it's done.

The site is usually updated every day. If Pete likes it he will post it. Keep your eyes out for it.

PS. I forgot to mention. It's a good idea to have someone you trust beta test your files before you upload them. This would make sure you didn't miss anything & the install instructions are clear.
