Rumor has it that the next update release of FSDS will have full DXT texture support. This will eliminate the need for two sets of textures: One for developing and one the actual sim. You will be able to apply and view DXT textures in FSDS.
Look for it very soon. I believe it will be free for existing FSDS 2.x users. Also, look for a few other cool enhancements.

and a few other enhancements, Landing lights visible from the 2D and 3D views, enhanced VC panel lighting ..
also some tweaks for scenery /object builders ...

GREAT NEWS!!!
Damn, just finished building the second set of textures for my Mooney Mite (now back under construction).
Still great news, can't wait to see what else has been cooked up.
