Gmax animation tags

Postby aceronzo » Mon May 12, 2003 8:07 pm

In gmax I named the part for the canopy as per the make mdl list. f_canopy saved it in gmax, animated it, added it to model, then saved again, and then exported to MDL.Still no movement also the cfg file has the [exits] file in it.Sure could use HELP! Thanx  ???

Out of curiosity - rem out or delete the [EXITS] section ... I just experimented with a model of mine in FS2002 that has the f_canopy part, and no entry in the config file...

try naming it either..
door_passenger for ctrl + e, or
door_cargo for ctrl + e + 2 command.

That *should* do it.

IF I read your initial posting...

You made your model in gmax ... saved it as it's own scene.

reset

You made the canopy animated it..fcanopy, saved it as its own scene..

reset.

opened the first model, and imported the f_canopy ... part or merged scene?

(I'm grasping at straws here)...

IF you're importing the canopy as a separate part, is it possible the animation didn't cross over?

(I work with contracts, so I may see things where there isn't anything there...)

I made the part in FSDS 1.6,naming it f_canopy,converted to DXF,then to Gmax.Keeping the same name.I used the gmax animation, but the make mdl doc with the parts list reads need part name and animation keyframe animation.Im not sure on the animation,I can make it move in Gmax, but the HELP files are sure stretching my 8th grade EdgeUkaySHUN(course that was back a few years).I would  appreciate any and all HELP.Maybe Im not setting something.

send me the source file - aircraft.cfg and *.air files....

As for the source file just send the fuselage and f_canopy part... the rest isn't needed for a basic export test.  Similarly, you don't need to send any textures/mdl file in the FS2002 file.

This one I want to take a look at...

e-mail to: FelixR@freeflightdesign.com

I'll get to it tonight...

I thank you for the help,I even tried making a box, named it f_canopy,used animate button ,clicked the key icon, animated, exported to MDL.The box made with Gmax would'nt move. Are the key animations the MAKE MDL DOC mentions what I have done?I keep thinking I must have missed something. Also I've been trying to grasp the texture thing,I sure wish there was a tutorial in my EDGEAKATED class i.e...step1-make part,step2-name it this,step3-PULL OUT whats left of your hair!
