Problem Setting Largeaddressaware flag

Postby lifter191 » Mon Apr 27, 2009 1:48 pm

Hi Guys

I've been through Nicks guide to streamline my system on my new XP Pro x64 system so it's now running really well. The last job I need to do to complete my FS9 rig is to make it Largeaddressaware. I've downloaded exsuite.php and have been trying to amend the header using CFF Explorer as per Nicks guide. It's not working for me, after I amend the header and try and run FS9 I get a flash of the FS start up screen for maybe half a second then nothing. When I try again I get a message saying FS is already running, which is confirmed by checking in the Task Manager but it's not loading the program. I also tried editing the addresses using a binary hex editor but I just get the same result...Has anyone else had a problem trying to do this?

I'm running AMD 64 X2 6000+ on an ASUS M2N68-AM mobo with 4MB Kingston DDR2 RAM and XFX GeForce 9800GT 512MB Graphics Card

Cheers

I have personally only done this mod once and it worked fine

I assume you backed up the original fs9.exe file as instructed to restore.

Are you sure you are doing the mod correctly?

If so I have no answer for you. It could be an issue with the hardware itself. When I did it I was using Intel.

EDIT: Hmmmm.. I wonder if this has anything to do with the CD protection.

Hi Nick
Yes I backed up my fs9.exe so I am still able to run the original exe file..

To be honest your instructions and illustrations are so clear that I'm very confident I have carried out the mod correctly..

I'll leave it for the time being as I'm very happy with my new FS9 rig as it is now.

Cheers
