need direction with new DDR3

Postby vgbaron » Fri Dec 12, 2008 9:19 pm

removed old DDR3 ram and installed Corsair 2x2 1800 8-8-8-24. Set all skew values to auto. Set 8-8-8-24 2N PL7 all other ram settings auto
Set ram voltage to 1.81. FSB 450x9 333 strap

BSOD

upped voltage a few ticks - BSOD

raised PL to 8 - bsod

dropped FSB to 400x9 333 strap boots fine Everest latency 59.5

Any thoughts?

Thanx

Ram voltage is 2.0v

Did you leave everything else the same or did you set CPU GTL and NB GTL back to AUTO?

Do they have the settings listed at Corsair for this board?

I cant look at this right now but will try later today

Wasn't sure how the skews would affect things so I reset everything and just set 8-8-8-24 2t - everything else at auto.

Memtest failed a the start.
AFter sleeping on it  I decided to try leaving the settings as I had with Mushkin, including skews. Upped voltage to 2.0

currently running memtest86 with no errors so far!  :)

no answer on any settings from corsair forum yet.

Possibly I was being overly cautious in resetting everything. Gotta go out for a few hours so I'm letting memest do it's thing

So far so good - memtest stable after 3 hours. Know the cpu clock is ok so now I'll try blend tests.

Understand. Flew online for almost 2 hours last night with no issues at all. I plan on sending offerings to the memory gods daily!  :)

BTW, LOVE the GTX 280. Surprised that it runs so cool but it sure is big, Even in my large Kandalf case I was moving cables around to get it in.
