What would be a better setting for FPS, an actual number, or unlimited? Just wondering because right now frame rates are kicking my........butt. Also, how do I see whate my FPS rate is while I'm in the sim? Thanks.

Well, you can find out what your current fps rate is by hitting "SHIFT+Z" twice while in the sim.

Now, as far as which is better locked or unlimited, it depends on your hardware, your settings, and who you ask. I personally run mine at unlimited, and my machine does pretty well with it. However, the logic behind locking in a certain framerate is that rather than making your machine render every frame it can, you can cut it back so it renders only what you need to have smooth gameplay. This frees up those extra compute cycles to allow your system to do other things, like start loading the next set of scenery tiles, for example.

I suppose in the end it might just come down to personal preference.

It depends on your system. Try framelocks from 18 to 31 & also try unlimited. I use a lock of 26.

Well I was checking out my FPS, and, I couldn't believe this, it hovered around 2 to 6 FPS. Wow! It even dropped to .6 FPS at one time. No that period in front of the 6 was not an accident. point6 FPS! I couldn't even fly in that. Lately FPS has been low. Could it be because of FSWC? It started getting bad after I installed that.

I can't even fly in my sim now. The FPS is around 1. Has anyone else taken a hit in their FPS due to FSWC?

What was your fps in that area before FSWC?

I'm pretty sure FSWC cannot change frame-rates, as it only changes the colour of the water, and intensity of the reflections.... Might be a bug? Try reverting to defaults then...

I'm not sure exactly what my FPS was before, but I did fly for a few days with better FPS and FSWC, so I guess I can rule that out. I'll try setting defaults, but it may just be my computer. It isn't the best as it is a family computer (laptop). Plus it is just about filled to capacity on the hard drives and memory. I'm looking into my own computer to run FSX.
