Overclock Please help

I want to overclock my system and have tried my self and given up i need someone to give me some directions treat me as cluless for this one that way there will be no confusion.System specs as follows

1. Processor Intel ATX E6400 CORE 2 DUO /2.13GHz/2MB CACHE/1066FSB/LGA775 conroe

2. RAM DDR2 2048MB(4x512M)PC6400 800Mhz Green Heatspreader G.Skill

3. Video Albatron GeForce 8800GTS 640MB Dual DVI HDTV SLI PCI Express

4. Hard drive Western Digital 250G SATAII 7200 rpm HDD RAID 0 Stripe

5. Motherboard Gigabyte 965P-DS3 Rev 2

I have this cpu also.

on a Gigabyte 965 ds3 mobo.

Just wondering where i should start for a little bit of OC'ing?

Just go into the advanced M.I.T. settings. Have it automatically adjust your voltages, and up your FSB.

Cheers mate what amout do i put in ive tried a few but no sucess so far im looking for about 3ghz is there a formula?

You are going to want your FSB to be at least 500Mhz for a 3Ghz clock. Upping your CPU voltage by 0.05v may help some to keep this stable, though the motherboard when set to auto is pretty good about keeping your voltages consistent. You might hit a wall because of your RAM though. It may not play well with the 55% increase in FSB, so watch out for that.
