Here we go, pics and all. I use FS AutoStart for all my games, not just FS9.
Start up FSAS and you get this screen:

Now hit File and select New. Here is what you get:

Check blank and add FS9 as I did. You can add a descrip if you like. Then hit SAVE. Now you get this:

You can see that I added one, called FS9A since I already have my FS9 in there. Highlight your new FS9 and hit Configure. You will get this:

Hit the Browse button and navigate to your FS9.exe file. Click it and it will be entered. All else is options.
I always let it defrag my memory. If you select Force Idle Tasks to Execute...........this can take a bit. I ONLY select defrag memory.
Now hit SAVE. Now select SERVICES and you will get this:

If you put your cursor over the right edge of this screen and drag it out a bit, a DESCRIP. window will pop up along side. Now go down the list highlighting each service. Read the descrip. For the most part, if they say leave it on, I leave it on. Rest is up to you. You can always come back and reset it.
Click on NO ACTION and you will get a drop down box with the options. Go through the whole list and when you are down, hit SAVE.
Now hit the PROGRAMS button and you get this:

Do the same thing as in services to the programs you select for FSAS to handle. When done, yes, hit SAVE.
Now, close down FSAS, yes close it down. If you try to run FS9 through here it won't work. When you shut FSAS down and restart it, it imports those settings you just saved. When it is restarted, just highlight your FS9 icon and hit START.
Hope this helped. Easy once you get the hang of it. Took me a bit too. Good luck and have fun.
