should i overclock here are som specs
intel(r) pentium(r) 4 cpu 3.00 ghz (2 cpus)

Ok, first off. When you say you have two pentium CPU's, do you mean two logical CPU's (through hyper-threading) or two physical CPU's (4 logical CPU"s with hyperthreading).

I'm assuming you don't know how to o/c. I would not recommend it if you are new to this. It can ruin your computer very easily and quickly, especially if you are using stock cooling. In addition, make sure your RAM is the same FSB as the CPU.

With that said:
The multipliers, core voltages, and FSB can be modified via the BIOS. Consult your mobo manual on how to access it; its different on all computers.

Eseentially, raising these values will make your computer go faster. Finding the right balence is key.

Should you overclock??
Well, thats up to you. For a newbie, its very risky. If done successfully, the results are worth it.

I overclocked my video card a little but I personally not gonna touch the CPU only because I havent ever done it and dont have the money to fix it if it goes wrong. Just read up and take your time Alot of people I now do it but I'm scared

As Autopilot says, if you have to ask how, I really would'nt bother.

A 3.0ghz p4 will give more than enough performance with FS9 - when matched to a decent Graphics card, you can overclock cpu's all you want, but, if your card can't cut the Mustard, then no overclocks will really reap any benefits.

Me I'm more than happy with my 2.6c p4, which will happily overclock to 3.2ghz!!! - point being, I get little or no noticable difference between overclocked or not, thus, I'm staying @ 2.6ghz.

Yeah, I rember my first CPU oc....was a 2 Mhz OC and boy was I relved it worked, now im hooked.... it will prolly end u costing you more money to OC than a new cpu in the long run lol...

The addiciton is the scary bit! I can't get more than 250mhz more out of my 64 3000+ with stock cooling tho. Im happy!

I'm think he has two logical processors from a single cpu with hyper threading. Dual cpu setup with p4 doesn't sound right. Xeons are better for dual cpu.

I seriously doubt that. I mean, you'd have to set it to very low settings and turn off all traffic.

without ai traffic of course and i probaly couldnt fly the plane

Really! With those specs, you should be getting some very good results. I've tried some minor tweaking of my system (1.2GHz CPU and less than 1GB RAM), and decided it's too risky with stock cooling...I'm now  planning to upgrade mobo/CPU and RAM and just enjoy flying.
However, I've found OC'ing the graphics card (with nVidia's program) then cleaning up my install of XP was a good compromise. Still pretty clunky in dense-scenery areas, but much better than before.

If it's that powerful a system then there's no need to overclock it. If you aren't getting the FPS you need to make flying smooth then something else is causing the problem. Look at your video card, RAM, FSB or AGP speed. Something is causing a traffic jam and it isn't the processor. 3.0 should be enough to handle FS 2004 easily in most circumstances.

People get caught up trying to render fantastic FPS but don't realize that past a certain point there's no noticeable difference. 50 FPS is no worse than 500 if you see fluid movement. Lock your FPS to just fast enough that you can't see the screen update and save the extra computing power for other stuff like guage updating or graphic quality.

Now if you want to overclock just for the heck of it then go ahead and overclock but just make sure you are willing to buy a new processor and/or graphics card and MB if you make a mistake and fry something. First however make sure you read everything about what to do and what not to do before proceeding and that you understand what you have read and what you are doing.
