How can I get the most out of my Card?

Postby Saitek » Wed Sep 08, 2004 1:59 am

A Ge-force FX5200. ::) My computer specs run at the end of my post. What do I need to do that will significantly improve my performance?

Ben :)

How can I swap my FX5200 Ultra out for a better card? Is it as easy as it sounds,  because the 6*xxx sounds pretty nice.

If you stay in the same family (ie. swap from Nvidia to Nvidia or ATI to ATI) it's just a matter of unplug one and put in the other.  If you were to go to ATI from your FX card, then you'd have to make sure you got all the Nvidia files out.  If pieces of the former cards driver remains it can affect the new cards performance.  In the past I would reformat when I switched makers, but I tried "driver cleaners" on the last two I did, and it seems to have done the trick.  On a side note though, I just upgraded to a 6800 GT and WOW.  The card is awesome.   I feel like my memory is now holding me back, so that's my next upgrade.  Good luck in whatever you decided   ;)
