If your asking how to do it I wouldn't bother, to much to risk.
Also 50MHz will gain you nothing, just install it and see how it runs. An extra 50MHz will not gain you much performance anyhow.

I need the extra 50 because I need 800 , I have 750..... I've already installed it, and it doesn't work ubi support says it is beacause my proceser is too slow and video card is old (Even though the patch for SC says that my card is supported)
DX DIAG for display:
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 256
Manufacturer: NVIDIA
Chip type: GeForce 256
DAC type: Integrated RAMDAC
Device ID: Enum\PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0100&SUBSYS_2820107D&REV_10
Display Memory: 32.0 MB
Current Mode: 800 x 600 (16 bit) (60Hz)
the only think is the 50mghz That I am under. To me this shouldn't make harly any difference but ubi support thinks otherwise

It probably requires a 64meg G/card too. Yours is only 32meg. I am afraid you may have to upgrade a bit. U arent missing much anyhow, I thought Splinter Cell sucked, though I prefer first person type games.

Good decision mate.... I'm in a similar boat (PIII 500Mhz 32MB Card, but 128Ram) a worse one probably, but i'm trying to cope....

Dan, have you got '98? I assume so...

I remember from my days of p200's & PIII's that '98 is MUCH quicker with 256MB - 512 would be ideal - and the OS's limit! - you should get some more life out of your pc yet.

Splinter cell... let me think
1: get and install unreal tournament 2003 demo.
2: go to the folder of that one, subdirectory system,, untealtournament2003.ini
3: copy the stuff under 'directx', and paste in the same section in the splintercell.ini

tried it with the splintercell demo
instructions
1: BACKUP THE ORIGINAL FILE
2:
paste
- Code: Select all
[D3DDrv.D3DRenderDevice]

HighDetailActors=True
SuperHighDetailActors=True
UsePrecaching=True
UseTrilinear=True
AdapterNumber=-1
ReduceMouseLag=True
;ReduceMouseLag=False
UseTripleBuffering=True
UseHardwareTL=True
UseHardwareVS=True
UseCubemaps=True
DesiredRefreshRate=75
UseCompressedLightmaps=True
UseStencil=True
Use16bit=False
Use16bitTextures=False
MaxPixelShaderVersion=255
UseVSync=False
LevelOfAnisotropy=1
DetailTexMipBias=0.800000
DefaultTexMipBias=-0.500000
UseNPatches=False

AvoidHitches=False
DecompressTextures=False
UseXBoxFSAA=False
DescFlags=0
Description=
OverrideDesktopRefreshRate=False
TerrainLOD=0
SkyboxHack=False
LowQualityTerrain=False
over the D3DDrv.D3DRenderDevice entry that is already there.
Should work OK after that, with more FPS.
Tweak if neccessary, as this file is from a AMD2800XP with 1GB RAM

Overclocking is not simple but it isn't hard either.
Chances are, if this is your first time, your cpu may fry. If I were you, I'd get a new computer and then use this old computer as a gineua pig for overclocking as then you can affod to have something happen.
Additionally, 50 mhz won't do much. It may allow the game to run on your computer, but there is a huge difference between running and playing.
