hi, i'd like to know if anyone has this same setup, or similar.  i've got an asus a7n8x-x mb, amd 2600, ati 9800 pro gc, 512 mb ram(pc 2700), and 60 g hd.  i'm new to overclocking and i tried to oc already buy just couldn't get it stable and not sure if i need to oc my ram also.  does anybody know some settings i can use that won't need any additional cooling?  also, if i need to make any voltge adjustments, thanks.

i just wanted to add that i just oc'd my amd 2600 from 1.9 to 2.02 with no additional cooling.  i'm just wondering, i had to change my frontside bus frequency from 166 to 175.  i'm kind of confused as to how i need to keep up with my memory bus.  i have pc 2700 which operates at 333, does this mean that i just oc'd my memory speed too, and if so will it cause damage?  i'm running the asus probe utility and cpu is running at 40c 104f and mb at 29c 84f.  didn't mess with cpu voltage.  thanks.

disregard those temps, i've just ben running for about 10 minutes now and the temps are 44c/111f cpu, and 29c/84f for mb.  

I doubt you will be able to overclock much with that ram unless it is really good stuff and your willing to up the voltages a fair bit!

Is your CPU's multiplyer locked?  if so then you can only adjust teh FSB speed form 166 (333) and make it higher.

For this ideally you want faster ram, i.e. PC3200 (400MHz) and be stable at theses speeds.

Have a read.  Just remember watch your temps.  Overclocking can be fun and good results can be had but generally you need good quality components to handle the extra strain.  Also take note that you could end up FRYING your system  ;)

The really annoying thing is thta my pC doesn't seem to tell me my temps. Isn't it normally in PC Health in the BIOS? If it is then the option isn't even there! Its down to the spec of the CPU / Mobo is it?

Yup dan your temps are there, well in most modern BIOS anyhow.  Most people however use progs that run no desktop to view their temps.  It does depend on your mobo whether or not the temps are displayed in BIOS.
