Ram impact on FPS??

When I had my P3 800 and went from 128meg to 256 to 512 finally I did notice an incremental increase in frame performance.  I now have 768 running XP @ 2.3 ghz.  Now so many people focus on vid card capability in regard to frame rates so my question is this.

Exactly hom much of an impact does ram have on FPS?  As example if I can average 22-24fps on my current settings how much could I gain from another 256meg of ram, an even gig?

Well, if your going from 64-128MB up to 512MB, you'll see a big difference. You won't need more than 1GB. You may be able to see a difference from 512MB to 1GB but it won't be alot.  The reason there is such a difference in the lower numbers is due to the amount of info getting dumped to the swap file.

My suggestion is to set the swap file 1.5 times your regular memory. If you have more than one hard drive, have the swap file work on the drive that does not contain the windows installation.

When I went from 512 to 1gig I didnt really gain much in FPS at all.  Though I did notice my FS2004 Loaded faster and generally the PC was a bit faster.
