I was looking through the msconfig options and got to thinking is there anything that I can do here to improve the performance of my computer.  I realize that you can select certain items to start up etc, but I am not sure if there is anything else that I can look into.  Does anyone have any suggestions of what msconfig can be good for to help with performance?

I just use it to stop my PC loading stuff on bootup that I dont want it running.

I do most of my clocking via the BIOS. FSB180, multiplier @ 12.5, Aperture RAM @ 512 (half of avail RAM) mem volts @ 7, check in advanced computer properties (performance settings), change virtual mem to as much as it will allow. This will use part of your HD as a cache, subsequently you will lose 1-3gig of your HD  (depending on your system specs). You have to experiment @ if you overdo it you risk barbequeing your processor. I suggest you up the FSB one stage at a time, over a few days. Don't try to do too much at once! when it crashes you will have to up the mem volts to compensate, again not too much. I'm a great believer in having a go, just be careful!
