Benchmarking progs.

Postby Dan » Thu Jun 17, 2004 1:13 pm

What is the most popular Benchmarking program around here, and where can i download it? I also understand that a benchmark is a little like your PC's IQ, a measure of its performance. Am I right?

In my opinion the most popular benchmarking program is the 3dmark series available here:

http://www.futuremark.com/download/

Download 3dmark2001 which is quite a small file or if you have the time download 3dmark2003 which is quite a large program.

I get 18200 on 3dmark2001 and 6870 on 3dmark2003

3dMark03 will test mainly your graphics card.

Sorry I haven't updated my sig in a while.
My 9800 Pro is flashed with a 9800 XT bios and overclocked to 432/385.

Hehehe I guessed right then!!  ;)

I dont know of smaller ones. 3Dmarks 03 is even bigger though!

3dMarks01 will give you a good indication of how your system performs and is worth the download.

Hi Dan...!
Have a look through your old Computer Magazine cover disks...
3D Mark 2001 was put onto a number of them, and saves you the problem of downloading it... ;D...!
(I use it)... ;)...!

Cheers... 8)..!

Oh I forgot to add it will benchmark your Pc but it will not tell you whether your image quality is good or bad.  I dont think there is any test for that, best way is to compare your setup with another.

I been answering a few of your posts and you have a tnt2 64mb graphics card and only 128sd ram so if you do get the benchmark prog dont expect high scores I am afraid  :'(

I don't think I will get it anyway. I just want a better way than Fs's fps read out to see if my tweaks work!

Your system specs wont really have effect over 3dMark03.  This one really only test your Graphics card.  Seeing as you got a 5950Ultra I reckon 6500-7000 maybe.
