My advice to people who ask this sort of question is usually, don't do it!

Why? get it wrong, and you have a dead PC. Plain & Simple.

Like modifying a car,...you better know what you are doing before you begin. Do a Google search on computer oc'ing and that will keep you reading for a while but better safe than sorry. (I shopped and learned for over 4 months before I built this rig)  :o

My advice - DON'T DO IT.

You won't see much improvement in overclocking a 1Ghz chip anyway.

With the price of Cpu's these days, you would be far better just buying a new one. You can get a new AMD 2Ghz for around $250AU these days.

If you have never played with or you know nothing about overclocking, then stay away from it.

As mentioned before - do some reading first, understand EVERYTHING in your bios and practice on something that doesn't matter if you kill it.

There is no easy way to talk you through overclocking as there are a number of steps involved to ensure a stable system, e.g - Cpu multiplier, Cas latency's, Voltages settings, FSB speeds etc etc.

I don't jack-5h!+ about how a processor is overclocked. AS a result, I kept away from the idea of overclocking.

If you are still determined to go ahead with this insane idea, the let me give you this one advice before you proceed.

There always a time in which you overclock too much. In other words, don't go too far or you'll regret it for the rest of your life.

Like PC_tech said. It's easier to buy a new processor than to overclock one and accidentally mess it up.

My system specs are listed below as my signature. I'm happy with what I have and FS2004 run perfectly on my rig without even overclocking it.

And don't forget what I said about Bill Gates and computers. LOL

*Over Clocking a PC is directy related to Over Reving a car engine beyond the RED line Limits , that engine is not meant to go that HIGH !  And that PC is operating well with in the safe zone , So leave it alone, consider a new / Faster / Computer .

It is not worth it, they can break so easily you have to know the signs that the processor has had enough and that is more of a feeling than anything else.

if you really REALLY wanna overclock your processor, IM me, but if it does start smoking, and sparking, and burning up, it isnt my fault, because you have had your warnings.......


I sorta know how to overclock, as you can see from my sig, but I have 2 fans on my processor, and it is holding a good temputure, 55oC, under a very heavy load  :) and I checked at the Pentium website, and my processor can take a max of about 63-64oC

I am sure I can bring it up to 2.9GHz, safely, but it isnt my computer, so I am not gonna do that  :)

35 Degrees C for me on heavy load and thats with a 590Mhz Overclock, I dont keep it that high but i do keep it at a 300 Mhz OC and thats 33 Degrees C under heavy load

wow swanny what u got in there water cooling? mine runs at 2.34 ghz on the XP2800+ i havent clocked it much but runs at 48 heavy load and 40 idle.... i have 7 chassis fans in total 3 of them extraction.... :O u switched you traitor thought u was strict Nvidia ? tut tut rebel lol

How do you guys keep your CPU so cool? can somone send me one of your heatsinks??? lol, but I thought mine was cool from some temputures that I have seen  ::)

lol, I was a strict nVidia but I saw that ATI was way better from the reviews i saw, i like my ATI 9800 Pro a lot





only 4 real quiet fans in my system, going to switch those out to more powerful fans and add a couple.
