GeForce 4 Ti 4600 Performance

Postby Mikel » Wed May 01, 2002 6:25 pm

:D  Hey guys, I have had the G4 for about a week before it was released and although it is a good card and I notice quite a difference from the Radeon 64 MB DDR card I had, it's performance is not what I was expecting. I would like to do some benchmark tests to see if it is running up to par. Can you tell me where to d'l the program (s) for this and give me some idea of what kind of scores I should be seeing? I am running an Athlon 1.4 with a Shuttle AK31A V.3 Via KT266 chipset, 512 MB DDR , and the G4.
Thanks!  8)

Hmm,

A friend of mine has one of those ti4600 cards, and he's over the moon with its performance! ? !

I'd say you have something configured wrongly,or perhaps its a driver and/or direct x issue?

You should have amazing performance with a GF4 4600, keep tweaking, I'm sure you'll see an improvement soon....

;D THanks for the replies guys! I d'l the benchmark program and got a score of
[glb]7189[/glb]  When I compared it to others with the same specs, seemed about right. I did notice some things in the system specs when I ran the sandra PC specs check that seemed off, so I will do a little tweaking and see if I can get it a little higher! Isn't there a utility that tweaks the GeForce cards??
Thanks!

7189 ?! This sounds spectacular to me.  ;D

I have a Gainward GF3Ti200 128MB DDR and an AMD XP1800+, 512 MB DDR.

My Benchmark-Result:
[glb]6045  :D[/glb]
(1024x768x32, pure hardware T&L, compressed textures). Did you use the default settings for your benchmark?

Hi Mikel,

I assume that the Gforce 4 ti 4600 is faster than the Gforce 4 ti 4200 64mb a noticeable bit. So you should be getting a lot more than that.

With a p4 1.6 ghz
512 ram
nvidia gforce 4 ti 4200 I used to get a score of almost 9000. that amd processor should be faster than the p4 I had so you should be getting a higher score, trying other drivers like 40.72

I have a quick question.

I built a new pc not long ago,
AMD XP 2400+ MSI 6570 MOBO
768 DDR PC2100
Geforce 4 ti 4200 64mb version.
3Dmarks2001 SE 11202

Should I upgrade this video card? Will I be better off with a gforce 4 ti 4600 or 4800?
Best Regards,
Selby

Mikel,
On the extreme end....  http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=6447497
Note though that it took a LOT of tweaking and I have the whole setup cranked. 14's are norm, 12's if I turn up options on card but I try to test with settings I run, except I don't believe the card was oc'ed when I hit 15's. I only recently discovered CoolBits. My 4600 is highly dependent on a fast cpu. Had it in a 900 Thunderbird and ran 6's on 3DMark. I would recommend the 4600 over the 4800 cuz the 8x has little benefit right now and I think the 4800 is a 4400 w/8x AGP. If you can afford it,(and justify it) I would wait till prices drop on ATI 9800 or Nvidia 5900 because these are DX9 cards and will smoke the 4600 or the 4800. One of these will be my next upgrade when $ permits. :)
