Hi. Need advice for overclocking my memory. Using Corsair XMS 1866 DDR3 memory sticks 4x4 16gb that has a rating of 11 11 11 31. Just found out my I5 3570K and my motherboard don't support 1866 MHz memory sticks. They only go to 1600mhz but my mother board does allow me to manually override this setting. When I changed the 1866mhz to 1600mhz my numbers drop to 11 10 10 27. If I drop them to 9 9 9 24 and increase the voltage to 1.65 would I see a performance gain? Read a review at one of the computer websites about this using Corsair XMS 1600 DDR3 with 9 9 9 24 and 1.65v with good results and was wondering if this would work for me? My default setting was 1333mhz.

The area of overclocking never stands still.

What I may have known when I last bought my computer will always be old news, even if it's only six months old.

Tried the new setting- 9 9 9 24 at 1.65v. System very unstable so went back to 11 10 10 27 at 1.5v. Back to normal. Still cant find memory product number CMX8GX3M2A1866C11 at Corsair or any website. Build sheet says I have 4 memory modules which is correct and CPUID lists them as this product number but if I have 4 of these then I would have 32gb but system tells me I have 16. I am confused!

for that motherboard, you must enable O.C mode (manual timing) in bios to unlock the 1866 speed you want.

then ENABLE "X.M.P" profile in bios and it will set the best timing and voltage for your memory at 1866 spd for you, no guess work.
google "xmp memory" for more info
