Is getting the ram worth it?

AHHHH im in such a position and I dont know what to get and I really dont want to get ripped for my money!!! I want to get the best 1 gig ram there is!
BUT its hard to know what is the best one!

Yup, dont worry we all make mistakes.  Im stuck with PC3200 stuff at the moment and one of my 512 sticks bit the dust earlier tonight so I am running on 1stick of 512 at the moment  :(
