I'm writing this on behalf of a friend and can only conclude this subject goes here due to the overclocking.
He is running a PIII up to 3.9Ghz. On another game "Half Life" he has no problems.
Two weekends ago, he had no problems when running at 3.7Ghz. This last weekend running 3.9Ghz he would randomly loose textures on aircraft. Even his own. For example, he'd be in Spot view and have textures on aircraft. He'd then switch to the 2D or 3D cockpit and then back to Spot and the textures would be gone. A little while later after switching view some more, the textures would return.
Other than the slight increase to the CPU, we increased the Texture_Memory_Bandwidth from 165 to 240. At this point he had no textures at all! On anything. He then reduced his CPU speed and saw no change. We then changed the Texture_Memory_Bandwidth from 240 to 200. Everything seems fine.
FS2004 is the only software which has problems running at 3.9Ghz. Could someone explain in detail, what the Texture_Memory_Bandwidth does or how it works?
Thanks,
Joe
