Is windows 8 good for gaming?

I am thinking of getting windows 8.And has any one ever had a problem with windows 8? When gaming like the sims 3 and high end games and indie games.And can fsx and xplane run on windows 8?And dos microsoft still support windows 7 and sell windows 7?

Sorry to say my windows 8 on a brand new computer i had built for gaming/fighter simulators in mind it will play Flight Simulator x but WON'T even recognize the C.F.S.3 DISC!!!
