If only Microsoft would start making "better" stuff, instead of more stuff.. And I hate Bing with a passion. We are being steered in the direction MS wants to send us and I'm beginning to resent that.

I don't intend to start using IE9. Sticking with firefox. Under all the fancy mods, it's still the IE we all know and hate.  :D

Sadly, MS seems to enjoy shooting themselves in the foot. While I didn't read the whole article (probably should), but after reading the first line alone, you just "know" how it will turn out.

"Microsoft has ruled out putting Internet Explorer 9 on Windows XP, leaving millions of PCs open to Mozilla and Google browsers providing hardware-accelerated rich-internet."

What follows is ONLY MY OPINION!!!

You'd think at some point, Microsoft would realize that there might be a reason so many people are sticking with XP.

I moved straight from Windows '98 to Windows XP, then added SP2 to it.
I run it in "Classic Mode", (Win '98), and find it simple, uncomplicated, and generally problem-free, compared to the reports of the Windows versions which followed it.
...and, very importantly, all my various (old) programs which I use daily, are written for it!

Internet Explorer (8), I find, runs very "sluggish" compared to Mozilla Firefox.
Sometimes I have to swap Browsers to get certain programs to run successfully....eg: Videos, etc... ::)...!

Paul.

I am always reluctant to spend loadsamoney on a very expensive Windows Operating System "up-grade?".... :'(....
...when what I REALLY want, is a new Motherboard/Processor/Graphics Card/Memory/Blonde Flight Attendant, etc, etc.... :-*...!

Paul...G-BPLF..FS 2004...FS Nav...Win XP Pro...and a spare seat... ;)...!

I understand IE 9 was designed for is for use with Win 7 only. My computer guru has a public beta copy of it on both his machines. He says he tried it on one (some super-duper alienware monster) and liked it so much he put it on his second machine. He says I should go with it, too. I'll wait until he thrashes it a bit before I take the plunge.
