Installing a new FS2004 disc to replace current one

I have REX2 installed (Real Environment 2) in my FS2004. I am installing a brand new FS2004 due to problems I have with the current installed version. My Q is: Do I need to uninstall REX and other programs (such as Ultimate Terrain) before installing the new version? Can I somehow transfer freeware aircraft?  Any guidance will be much appreciated.

You would be advised to uninstall any programs such as Rex.
To save you a lot of trouble with re-installing aircraft, just copy the Flight Simulator 9\Aircraft, Effects, Gauges and Sound files to somewhere safe, then once you've installed the program copy them in and over the existing files on the new install, hey presto all your planes and their bits should be there

Sorry to be such a bother, but the link to Simviation page that explains how to replace a FS2004 disc with a new disc doesn't work. Searching  the http doesn't work. Google can't locate it. The Simviation search engine can't locate it. Can anyone tell me wehere I can locate this info? At my wit's end.   :-?  Thanks.
