Adobe ARM At Start up

I opened the computer up today and got an error message saying Adobe ARM could not be executed or something along those lines. I check my Component services and that process could not be found. I search and realized it was a process to run ARM processors. I don't have an ARM processor.

Application popup: AdobeARM.exe - Application Error : The exception unknown software exception (0xc0000005) occurred in the application at location 0x403febe8.

Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program


Why is it there?

Can I disable it if I find out where to disable it?

It appears to be a update/download manager for adobe reader 9.2 and launches at windows startup via the following registry entry:


[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"Adobe ARM"=""C:\\Program Files\\Common Files\\Adobe\\ARM\\1.0\\AdobeARM.exe""


To prevent it from starting at windows startup you can safely delete this entry from the registry..........

If it happens again I'll dive into the registry. So far it is no problem.

I am reluctant to go near the registry.

just use RUN > MSCONFIG > Start up tab...... DESELECT everything that you basically do not NEED to startup when you turn the computer on.

Adobe ARM as default will be selected to run/boot at startup, just uncheck the box then restart the computer and it will not boot up anymore when you restart the computer.   And there is no need to get into the registry.
