Firefox msvcr80.dll....!

Postby Fozzer » Sun Jan 03, 2010 10:12 am

I have been using my favourite Mozilla Firefox Browser for many years....

...up until now... :'(...!

For the past number of Months I have been plagued by the dreaded "msvcr80.dll" errors constantly shutting the Firefox Browser down whilst I am in the middle of something!.... >:(...!

The Web pages are littered with frustrated Firefox Users complaining about this annoying error affecting the Browser whilst it is attempting to open the Page... :o...!
I have reinstalled both old and new versions of Firefox, and still the error occurrs!

My standby; Opera, Safari, and
Win 8.1 64-bit. DX11. Advent Tower. Intel i7-3770 3.9 GHz 8-core. 8 GB System RAM. AMD Radeon HD 7700 1GB RAM. DVD ROM. 2 Terra Byte SATA Hard Drive. Philips 17" LCD Monitor. Saitek Cyborg X Fly-5 Joystick. ...and a Briggs and Stratton Petrol Lawn Mower.

Yep Maz...

Re-installed both older and newer versions of Firefox...
...still the same problem... >:(...!

At the moment I am just getting used to the layout of the latest version of Internet Explorer (V8)...no problems with that... :)...!

(Opera, Safari, and Maxthon2 are far too slow, but useful as
Win 8.1 64-bit. DX11. Advent Tower. Intel i7-3770 3.9 GHz 8-core. 8 GB System RAM. AMD Radeon HD 7700 1GB RAM. DVD ROM. 2 Terra Byte SATA Hard Drive. Philips 17" LCD Monitor. Saitek Cyborg X Fly-5 Joystick. ...and a Briggs and Stratton Petrol Lawn Mower.

...a bit of an update whilst I remember....

I have Disabled my following Add-ons:

AVG Safe Search.
AVG Security Toolbar.
Java Quick Starter.
Noscript. (for Java).

I have left Enabled the following:

Adblock Plus.
British English Dictionary.
Google Toolbar for Firefox.

..and so far, all is well, and no more msvcr80.dll errors... :)...!

So, it looks as though certain Firefox "Add-ons" only, are causing the problem, which is why the problem doesn't occur in my other Browsers!

Paul....Sorted?.... ::)...!
