FS9 Edit Voice Pack

Postby Capt.Propwash » Mon Sep 28, 2009 8:33 pm

I would like to update / fix a lot of missing voice packs, but I am not quite sure how to go about do that.  I have looked at the tutorials for it, but either I worked to much today or am just tired as heck, but i cant make heads or tails about the files.

anyone care to help?

It's not that difficult.

Start EVP (EditVoicePack)

EVP will load data from your FS (lower left corner)

EVP will download updates (if available)

Click File

Click Update Voicepack

Put a checkmark at Accelerate Voicepack

Click OK

EVP will now put all the new phrases, callsigns in place and will speed up the voice of the ATC

When that is done;

Click Tools

Click Update airlines.cfg

Click File

Click Save

Exit

That's it. Updating your voicepack can take some time. Don't worry if it takes up to 30 minutes.

Crash ;)

PS. If it doesn't give you the last Save option, just close EVP and try your FS. Sometimes it works without saving....

The way I understand EVP these are callsigns or manufacturers where there are no voicepacks of. What you can do is make your own voicepack for it (there must be a tutorial at www.editvoicepack.com) or change the callsign to something that looks like it FS.

In FS9: Select Aircraft
Change ATC name
Airline callsign
Pick something you like
Give it a flightnumber
Press OK

Don't know how or what in FSX.

there was another poster here that was having pretty much the same problem.... ATC Calling his craft "EXPERIMENTAL" when it is clearly labeled in the aircraft.cfg of what it is, but ATC for some reason will not recognize it.

Although an aircraft might have an ATC name in the aircraft.cfg doesn't mean ATC knows what it is. ATC will call an airplane Experimental if the manufacturer doesn't show up in the voicepack. You can try this yourself. Take any plane, change the manufacturers name in The Propwash Co. and see what happens.

EVP example:

ui_manufacturer=Beechcraft
ui_type="Barron 58"
flight_number=3356

from the Beech Barron is called by ATC "Barron 3356"

but yet, if i have:

ui_manufacturer=Beechcraft
ui_type="Beech Amphibian"
flight_number=2769

it is called: "Experimental 2769"

its not an EXPERIMENTAL you dumb ATC IDIOT!!! IT'S A BEECH AMPHIBIAN!!! look at the window and see what it is!!

anywho.  do you know how i would go about making the ATC "Trainee" go to classes to learn what my craft is and properly call me that???  Is there is .cfg or .txt file somewhere that ATC has to follow/read to know what my craft is??

I have a F14D Tomcat that ATC will call me "Navy Aplha Alpha 100"

atc_id=AA100
atc_airline=Navy
atc_flight_number=000
atc_heavy=0
atc_parking=f14,M001
ui_manufacturer=Grumman
ui_type=F-14D
ui_variation=Long Range Interception

Maybe that is my problem....... for my Beech D18S, i had atc_airline=Bush Pilots, and it wont say 2name words.

hmmmm, now if i can at least just get it to say "Beech 00MS" then that would be a lot better than Experimental.

EVP will not say Beechcraft Amphibian because it doesn't know the combination of those two words. It doesn't have a soundfile representing Beechcraft Amphibian. Because it doesn't know it EVP will replace it with something else. As default it will use Experimental. It will however always mention the flightnumber because it does have the 0-9 soundfiles.

EVP doesn't use txt files to call you it uses soundfiles. If you want something special (for example for your Beechcraft Amphibian) you would have to make it yourself. Tutorial here. However sites like Avsim and Flightsim have tons of EVP callsigns (maybe Simviation has too, I didn't check. Sorry for that).

EVP has no problems with airlines with two names. It will pronounce Air Mexico or Air Canada without problems. But that because it has it in a soundfile. Bush Pilots is probably not in it.

Crash ;)

PS. Just to get something out of the way. EVP isn't the program causing you these small problems. It's FS. EVP only adds something to the FS voicepacks...
