Want to speed up Firefox?

Who ever though Firefox could be even faster than what it already is? Well, my friend came over the other day, and he showed me how fast his firefox was. I asked him how he did it, said he tweaked it. So I went online looking for Firefox tweaks and found this little site with a couple of tweaks I can do. Well, needless to say I did them

Seems to be much faster, though I would be interested to hear NickN's input on this.

I was also hoping he'd stop by and drop a line on this. all my other internet settings are as he suggested, these are the only different things.

This is a very simple edit of the number of times the ports will be slammed with update requests.. its similar to editing the TCPIP registry stack for

HKEY_USERS.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings
"MaxConnectionsPerServer"=dword:00000010
"MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server"=dword:00000010

Its no secret.. its been around for a long time and FF tweaks require changes too since its not and never was a safer browser and simply ports out through windows networking system

LOL!!!

I do not use FF but apparently they are porting and what this does is hammer the port with requests. What will eventually happen if it has happened already at many websites is the admin will limit the requests per IP which is why some sites may be faster and others do not seem like they have changed.

Overall it can help but those admins who are wise to the hacks and tweaks make sure their systems are not pounded buy the public in high traffic periods

Have I misunderstood what you have said? I ask because pretty much everyone seems to think that FF is a safer internet interface than EE??

Yes Matt

you have been misinformed by the FF marketing parade and MS haters around the world.. something I posted probably 2 years or so ago on these forums and repeated a few times

by the way.. they all have their holes and they all get patched the same eventually

There is no difference

but I will say this.. with FF you dont think you are getting a free browser for nothing? do you?

There is a reason why such products are released and use fear and hatred to generate use.. they get something back and that is your browser habits

Nothing illegal about that either but none the less this horse manure that has been planted over the years about FF being safe and taking you away from being monitored is just that... manure

so enjoy what ever browesr you like and make sure the system is correctly secure with NOD32 or something that you get what you pay for in protection without killing system resources

Thanks Nick. Personally I just prefer the FF screen to that of IE, though I am/was on of the fooled ::). As for browser habits, they are waisting their time if they think that sending me an advert is going to make me buy anything.....................they have not met my wife and here saving prowess
