Old "Build #1" has had some issues lately, just with internet browsing, really, but just yesterday I discovered that I can no longer zip/unzip fles with the built-in XP utility.  >:(

I've looked for a fix online, but not quite sure if anyhting I've found pertains to this problem exactly.
I have tried searching the registry, but not sure exactly what to look for... anybody ever had this specific problem?

Has another program associated itself with zipfiles?

This happened to me once. I found a little fix for it somewhere. I'll hunt round for it if this is your problem.

PS. Here you go. The file at the bottom of the list.* http://www.dougknox.com/xp/file_assoc.htm

I ran this when mine did that 'regsvr32 zipfldr.dll' that worked for ME.
somehow it got turned off. Or you could always use 7zip.

Use Peazip, cute fast and does all zip file types, doesn't add 10 things when you right click something :D

And it's free :D

There's a lot of free alternative extraction software, some better than others. However, it's handy to have the Windows utility up & working. The little reg tweak from my link should fix that.
